Operating Instructions (continued)
To Lower a Stationary Load:
1. The jack must have a load of 150 lbs. or greater before it can be lowered
or else the lifting mechanism will slide down the steel bar frame to the
base plate.
2. Position jack under the load and raise the load (as described in “To Raise
a Stationary Load”) in order to remove blocks holding the load up.
3. Place handle in the vertical position clipped against the steel bar frame
before attempting to lower load.
4. Shift the reversing latch to the lower position. (see Fig. 2)
5. While grasping the handle with both hands, carefully move the handle up
and down. The load will be lowered on each up stroke of the handle.
Maintain controlled grip of handle through the entire handle stroke.
Using the Jack as a Winch: (Do not exceed the maximum load of 4,660 lbs.)
1. Always use chains or tow straps that have a greater working strength/
capacity than the jack.
2. Loosen the top clamp bolt and rotate clamp so that it is in-line with the
steel bar frame. (see Fig. 3) Retighten bolt to 64 ft-lbs.
3. Attach one end of chain/tow strap securely to the load. Attach other end
securely to the top clamp opening. It is recommended to use a shackle
(not included) for attachment.
4. Attach another chain/tow strap securely to a fixed object. Attach other end securely to the lower clamp.
5. Operate jack as if it was being used to raise a load.
Using the Jack as a Clamp: (Do not exceed the maximum load of 750 lbs.)
1. The top clamp must be positioned perpendicular to the steel bar frame. (see Fig. 4)
2. The top clamp can be moved to any position along the steel bar frame. (see Fig. 4) Remove top clamp
bolt and reposition top clamp to new hole position on steel bar frame. Retighten bolt to 64 ft-lbs.
3. Operate the jack as if it was being used to raise a load, clamping material between the top and lower
clamps.
1. Never perform maintenance on jack while it is under load.
2. The jack can be cleaned with water and a mild detergent if needed. Dry and lubricate immediately after
cleaning.
3. Lubricate the jack with a light penetrating oil, or a Teflon or silicon spray at locations shown. (see Fig. 5)
These locations include both climbing pins and associated springs(1-4), the shear pin(5), the handle pin(6),
and front and back edges(7-8) of the steel bar frame.
4. Binding of the climbing pins may be due to dirt, corrosion, or a worn or bent steel bar frame. If binding
occurs, clean and lubricate jack. Test jack by raising without a load. If binding continues, do not use jack.
