4. Connect Optional Solar Panel
12V solar panels are shipped as standard. If 24V is required, please
.
1. Solar panels should be installed in an unobstructed location, as
high as safely possible.
2. Panel should be exposed to as much natural light as possible.
3. In the northern hemisphere, place panels at a 45-degree angle
to southern exposure for best performance.
4. After panel is securely paced, connect the cable to the
corresp/- terminals of the host unit’s battery via the
attached ring terminals.
Note: Take care when wiring to power to prevent discharge.
5. Final Systems Check
1. Return to the interior of the SMB case for a final systems check to ensure normal functionality listed
below.

‘System’ light blinking green
‘GPS’ light no longer blinking once signal is acquired
‘Cell Reg’ light blinking red only when transmitting data
‘Port 2’ status determined based on accessory utilization

2. Normal status for the solar controller will show all three indicators: solar panel icon (system charging),
battery icon (in service status), and light bulb icon (load turned on – Messenger is powered).
3. Close the lid, latch securely and ensure pressure valve is tightened to reestablish weatherproof integrity.
