5.3.5  Triple Diversity Antenna 

The triple diversity antenna consists of three flex whip antennas mounted at different locations around the 
controlled machine. This is useful in applications where a single antenna cannot provide the coverage area 
required. The triple diversity antenna is also required for some of the advanced features of the Model R2HN 
receiver. For information on the Model R2HN receiver, refer to 

Appendix I

 

– R2HN Receiver

 of this manual. 

Each remote antenna mounting bracket should be placed in a location away from any sources of RF interference. 
Mount the antennas on the controlled machine in such a way that the operator can keep one antenna in the line of 
sight at all times. For example, mount one antenna on each of three corners of the controlled machine. If this is 
not possible, then mount the antennas so as to keep one in line of sight from as much of the work area as 
possible. In addition, we recommend that you physically tag each antenna and its associated line kit with a 
number (1, 2 and 3) and permanently record its individual location on the controlled machine or crane. Test the 
controlled machine thoroughly from the entire work area to verify adequate performance of the system. If 
satisfactory performance cannot be obtained, contact Cattron at

5.3.6  Direct DC Wiring Option 

Cattron MP Series receiver/decoders equipped for AC power may be powered directly from a properly filtered 
13.8 VDC power source. This capability is normally used when the receiver/decoder is installed on a moving 
vehicle such as a forklift truck, dump truck or automated vehicle. Refer to the drawings provided with your system 
for actual wiring details.
