It is important to understand, and keep,
this instruction manual for the future
maintenance of the machine. The following
warnings are shown for the safety of the user and to protect
the surrounding environment. Read all the instructions
carefully before installing and using the equipment.
!
Once the packing has been opened, make sure that the
machine is not damaged. If in any doubt, call the service
centre.
!
This equipment must only be used by qualified personnel.
!
During installation, any electric work must only be carried
out by trained personnel.
Do not overload the equipment. Follow the instructions
for use.
Do not dispose of electrical equipment
together with normal waste!
The symbol shown underlines that the substances
found in the appliance and in its sub-parts may be
harmful to the environment and to people’s health
if not disposed of properly. In observance of European
Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment and its implementation in accordance with
national law, electrical equipment that has reached the end
of its life must be collected separately and returned to an
environmentally compatible recycling facility. As the owner
of the equipment, you should get information on approved
collection systems from our local representative. The
manufacturer undertakes to collect, at the distributor’s
premises, the appliance that has reached the end of its
working life when a new equivalent appliance is purchased.
The appliance must be returned complete with all its
essential components. National laws provide for sanctions
against those who should not respect the disposal methods
found herewith.
By applying this European Directive you will improve the
environment and human health!
This welding machine complies with EN 50199 and its main
purpose it to be used in an industrial environment. Consider
that generated electromagnetic emissions (including those
produced by HF ignition) may result as non compatible with
the maximum levels permitted for some electric appliance
classes. Assess the area in which the welding machine is
installed before using it and pay particular attention to
whether the following is present:
!
Computers, robots, household electronic devices (radios,
TVs, VCRs, telephones, burglar alarm systems, etc.).
!
Electric medication instruments and appliances for life
maintenance, cardiac stimulators (pacemakers) and
acoustic devices.
!
All highly sensitive electrical appliances (appliances used
for calibrations and measurements).
!
Safety control apparatuses in industrial appliances.
METHODS FOR REDUCING EMISSIONS
!
Filtering of the mains power supply.
!
Shield the power supply cable in metal or equivalent
conducts for the entire length in permanent welding posts;
the shielding must be connected to the welding machine via
a good quality electrical contact. For special applications
shielding the whole welding machine may be taken into
consideration.
!
Keep the welding cables as short as possible and close to
the floor.
!
Equipotential connections of the metallic components in
the welding installation may be taken into consideration.
This increases the risk of the operator of being electrocuted
if he touches one of these components and the electrode at
the same time: the operator must therefore make sure he is
isolated from these parts.
!
If the piece is not grounded, a connection that binds the
piece that is to be welded to the ground may partially
reduce electromagnetic emissions. Be careful in this case
as the risk of injuries to the operator or damages to other
electric appliances may arise. The operation must be
authorized by a competent person when determining the
risk that this operation may give rise to. In countries in
which connecting the piece to the ground via a direct
contact is not allowed, the bond can be achieved by an
adequate condenser chosen in compliance with national
laws.
!
The operator must wear gloves, clothes, shoes, and a
helmet or a welder’s helmet, which protect and are fire-
resistant in order to protect him against electric shock,
flashes and sparks from welding.
!
Clothing must never be dirty with inflammable liquids,
solvents, oily substances or paints that could ignite or
vaporize and react to the heat produced by welding
operations.
!
Use anti-noise headphones during welding operations and
operations to prepare the parts that are to be welded which
produce elevated noise.
!
The operator must protect his eyes with safety visor or
mask designed for welding, fitted with standard safety filters.
He should also be aware that during electrical welding
ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION
is emitted. Therefore it is vital
that his face is also protected from radiation. Ultraviolet
rays produce the same harmful effect as sun burning on
unprotected skin.
