Snapshot Shooting Precautions

Operation
•
Ne v er open the b attery co v er w hile the operation lamp is
flashing green. Doing so can res u lt in incorrect storage of the
image yo u j u st shot, damage to other images stored in
memory, malf u nction of the camera, etc.
•
If u nneeded light is shining directly onto the lens, shade the
lens w ith yo u r hand w hen shooting an image.

Monitor Screen when Shooting Snapshots
•
The image that appears on the monitor screen is for image
composition. The act u al image w ill b e recorded at the q u ality
set for the image q u ality setting.
•
S ub ject b rightness conditions can ca u se monitor screen
response to slo w and can ca u se digital noise in the monitor
screen image.

Shooting Indoors under Fluorescent
Lighting
•
Min u te flickering of fl u orescent lighting can affect the
b rightness or color of an image.
Auto Focus Restrictions
•
Proper foc u s may not b e possi b le w hen shooting the follo w ing
types of s ub jects.
– Solid color w all or other v ery lo w contrast s ub ject
– Strongly b ack lit s ub ject
– Very shiny s ub ject
– Blinds or other s ub ject w ith a repeating horizontal pattern
– M u ltiple s ub jects at v arying distances from the camera
– S ub ject in a dark location
– S ub ject that is too far a w ay for light from the AF assist lamp
to reach
– Fast-mo v ing s ub ject
– S ub jects o u tside the foc u s range of the camera

Proper foc u s may not b e possi b le if the camera is mo v ed
w hile shooting.
•
An image may b e o u t of foc u s e v en tho u gh the operation
lamp is lit green and the foc u s frame is green.
If yo u cannot foc u s properly, try u sing foc u s lock (page 121)
or man u al foc u s (page 123).
