Step 10 — Configure Unit Control Components
UNIT PROTECTION MODULE (UPM)
All units with Complete C, Deluxe D, or WSHP Open are factory
provided with a unit protection module (UPM) controls the com-
pressor and has built safeties. See Fig. 20.
Freeze Sensor
The default setting for the freeze limit trip is 30°F for applications
without anti-freeze. This can be changed to 15°F for applications
with anti-freeze by cutting the R30 resistor located on top of the
DIP switch SW1.

WARNING
To avoid possible injury or death due to electrical shock, open
the power supply disconnect switch and secure it in an open
position during installation.
CAUTION
If unit is employing a fresh water system (no anti-freeze pro-
tection), it is extremely important to have the Freeze1 R30
resistor set to 30°F in order to shut down the unit at the appro-
priate leaving-water temperature and protect your heat pump
from freezing if a freeze sensor is included.
