11  Individual components 

11.1  Double Cable Steering System 

The Carqon has a unique steering system: the Double-Cable Steering System incorporates a high-
quality technique taken from the automotive industry. Instead of a conventional steering rod, strong 
double steering cables are used. This allows for more direct, smoother steering and enables a wider 
steering angle. There are two sets of cables for added safety, the second cable is added as a backup.

It is important that both sides have the same tension

 

●

If you prefere a more stiff rotational movement, please increase the tension. 

 

●

If you prefer a more smooth rotational movement, please decrease the tension

 

●

Make sure the two vertical mounts are always strongly mounted

For changing the cables, it is necessary to remove the box. Please contact your Carqon dealer to 
execute this service. After every two years, we advise you to replace the set of cables

Warning

: Contact a Carqon dealer if you need to adjust the double cable system 

or if one of the cable breaks.

11.2  Optional luggage carrier 

If the optional luggage carrier is improperly assembled, this can cause damage to bike components. 
The luggage carrier is intended for transporting 
children up to 25kg and lighter luggage whilst 
travelling. Do not modify the luggage carrier, otherwise 
the stability or functionality of the cargo bike may be 
compromised.

Contact a Carqon dealer if you intend to add to or 
modify your cargo bike or your luggage carrier. 

 

●

Only use the luggage carrier supplied by Carqon. 

Bike components can be damaged by overloading 
the luggage carrier. The maximum load of the luggage 
carrier and the maximum total weight of the cargo bike must be taken into account when loading it. 
Only load the luggage carrier with a maximum of 25 kg/55 lb. 

11.3  Luggage 

 

●

When loading your cargo bike, ensure that reflectors or lights continue to be visible. 

 

●

When riding, take the additional weight into account and the unaccustomed handling while 
driving, where appropriate. 

 

●

You may need to consider that the braking distance will be longer and the riding style may be 
different, since the balance of the bike might be changed.
