4.1.
Basestation
The Basestation is a 19” rack mountable device that will normally be installed in a weatherproof
cabinet at or close to the mounting point for its external antenna. Suitable antennas are
available from Carlson.

The Basestation connects to the internet via a standard Ethernet port, where it automatically
obtains an IP address from a DHCP server. It encodes data from the Ethernet connection for
transmission to one or more CPE units. It decodes transmissions from the CPEs and sends
these to the internet.
Carlson designers have deliberately limited the number of physical controls on the Basestation.
All of the control, configuration and management options of the Basestation are handled via the
cloud-based OMC interface.
