5.3.1 Table for cable length and number of sensors in a line
The table below can help you to decide the cable length and the number of sensors on a line,
starting from the cabinet (where the CMCG is located) to the 1
st
sensor and among the sensors.
Example
50 sensors in a line using a 1.5mm
2
cable. Distance between sensors is 3.0 m (9.84 ft).
The result from the Table 1 is the following:
Maximum cable length from the cabinet to 1
st
sensor in line = 9 m (29.52 ft).
Maximum cable length from 1
st
sensor to the last sensor (50
th
sensor) = 150 m (492 ft).
Table 1
The picture below shows the distance according to the
Table1
.
Using the table above, we can see the result by increasing from 2.5 to 3.0 m using 50 sensors on a
line.
Changing the distance between the sensors is not a big deal. On the other side, changing the number
of the sensors is more significant. If the distance between each sensor is 2.5 m, you can use 50
sensors on a line thus reducing the distance between the CMCG and the first sensor (from 55 to 21
m).
