4.2 Cable selection for wiring cabinet modules and sensors
The 3-wire cable used in the car park system provides both Dupline® signals and power to the
sensors.
For the connection of the CMCG to the sensors and to avoid voltage drop at the end of the cable or
reflections, the cable has to meet the following specifications:
•
3-conductor 1.5 mm
2
or 16AWG unshielded, single-core wire OR
•
3-conductor 1.5 mm
2
or 16AWG unshielded ,multicore wire with ferrules.
Note: it is essential to mount a ferrule on each wire end, because the connections on the
sensors are all “push connectors”.
When you mount the wires in the push-wire connectors on the sensors, cut the insulation carefully
to avoid damaging the conductor. Cut only 1 cm (0.394 or 25/64 inches) of the inner insulation of the
conductor.
•
When using a single core cable, press the wire end into the push wire connector.
•
For a multicore wire follow the same procedure: cut the sheath to strip the cable and then
install a ferrule at both ends. Press the wire ends into the push wire connector.
