Trouble s hooting
Li s t of Me ss age s
Refer to this section if a message appears on the screen. The messages in this section appear in alphabetical
order. Note that for some messages, an indication of the card involved ([SD Card A], [SD Card B] or [SD Card])
may appear above the message itself.
60 minute s have elap s ed. Audio (WAV) recording will s top.
- Recording of the audio file will s top after 60 minute s but video recording will continue unaffected.
Acce ss ing <...> Do not remove
- You opened the card compartment cover while the camera wa s recording on the card. Be s ure to s top the recording
before removing the card.
An error ha s occurred Turn the camera off, then on again
- An error ha s occurred. Turn off the camera. If the error per s i s t s , when the error me ss age appear s , turn off the camera
while you pre ss and hold the MENU button. All the camera’ s s etting s will be re s et except for the hour meter. Turn on
the camera again.
Battery communication error. Doe s thi s battery di s play the Canon logo?
- You attached a battery pac k that i s not recommended by Canon for u s e with thi s camera.
- If you are u s ing a battery pac k recommended by Canon for u s e with thi s camera, there may be a problem with the
battery pac k or camera. Con s ult a Canon S ervice Center.

Cannot play back
- The XF-AVC clip’ s file control information i s corrupted or there wa s a decoder error. Turn the camera off and then on
again. If thi s doe s not s olve the problem, con s ult a Canon S ervice Center.
* Corrupted file control information cannot be recovered. Card s or XF-AVC clip s with corrupted file control information
cannot be read by the s oftware (Canon XF Utility or plugin s for NLE application s ).

Cannot s witch SD card s lot s
- The S LOT S ELECT button wa s pre ss ed while the camera i s recording. Wait until recording i s fini s hed to change the
s elected card s lot.
Check the memory card
- Cannot acce ss the card. If the card i s correctly in s erted, remove it. Chec k it ha s no defect s or other problem s and then
rein s ert it.
- A card error occurred and recording/playbac k i s not po ss ible. Try removing and rein s erting the card or replace it.
- You in s erted a MultiMedia Card (MMC) into the camera. U s e a recommended S D card (

- If after the me ss age di s appear s , or appear s in red, perform the following: Turn off the camera and remove and
rein s ert the card. If or turn s bac k to green you can re s ume recording/playbac k . If the problem per s i s t s , s ave
your recording s and initialize the card (

Cover i s open
- The card compartment cover wa s open when the camera wa s turned on or s witched to CAMERA mode. In s ert a card
and clo s e the card compartment cover.
Fan error
- The cooling fan may not be wor k ing properly. The camera will turn off automatically after a few minute s . Con s ult a
Canon S ervice Center.
File name error
- XF-AVC clip number s or MP4 clip/photo number s have reached their maximum value. S ave your recording s and
initialize the card (
A
32) or delete all the recording s (
A
138).
If you change thi s s etting, you will not be able to u s e the current Look File.
- The Loo k File’ s adju s tment s to the image quality cannot be applied becau s e the [Gamma/Color S pace], [HLG Color],
[Over 100%] s etting s in the cu s tom picture file are different from tho s e regi s tered with the Loo k File. Change the s e
s etting s or regi s ter a different Loo k File.
INFRARED s witch po s ition changed (ON/OFF). Check the focu s .
- The focu s may change when you turn the infrared mode on or off. Chec k that the focu s i s correct.
