Direct print function when connected to a dedicated printer (the CP-10 card photo printer)
The PowerShot G2 includes a direct print mode that makes it possible to easily produce high-quality prints
simply by connecting the PhotoShot G2 to Canon’s CP-10 card photo printer via a special cable.
Printing can now be controlled entirely from the camera. In addition, images
can now be cropped, a capability that was not possible with the IXY DIGI-
TAL 300/200 and the PowerShot A20/A10. If the cropping option is selected,
only the portion of the image that lies within the frame that appears on the
LCD monitor is printed. You can change the size of this frame in 8 steps
(when horizontal) or 5 steps (when vertical) on the zoom bar and move the
position of the frame using directional button.
In order to implement the direct print function, the camera’s own internal
processor must rapidly perform color processing for the printer that ordinarily
would be handled by the printer driver of a computer, meaning that the proces-
sor must be able to perform such operations quickly and color processing itself
must be speeded up. The new imaging engine makes all this possible.

Enlarged playback (approximately 3x/6x)
Whereas the PowerShot G1 only offered enlarged play-
back at 2.5x/5x, the PowerShot G2 offers enlarged play-
back at approximately 3x/6x, which means it is easier
then ever to closely examine the details of an image.
