Preface
Thank you for choosing a Canon product. Before using the machine, please read the
following instructions for your safety.
Important Safety Instructions
Except as specfcally descrbed n ths gude, do not attempt to servce the machne yourself. Never attempt to
dsassemble the machne: openng and removng ts nteror covers wll expose you to dangerous voltages and
other rsks. For all servce, contact Canon Customer Care Center, or a Canon Authorzed Servce Faclty.
Handling and Maintenance
Follow all warnngs and nstructons marked on the machne.
Do not subject the machne to strong physcal shocks or vbratons.
Always unplug the machne before movng or cleanng t.
Do not place your hands, har, clothng, etc., near the ext and feed rollers. Even f the
machne s not n operaton, your hands, har, or clothng may get caught n the rollers,
whch may result n personal njury or damage f the machne suddenly starts prntng.
To avod paper jams, never unplug the power cord, open the scannng platform, or add or
remove paper n the machne whle prntng.
When transportng the machne, be sure to remove the toner cartrdge from the
machne.
Place the toner cartrdge n ts orgnal protectve bag or wrap t n a thck cloth to
prevent exposure to lght.
Be careful when removng prnted paper from output trays or when algnng t, because t
may be hot and result n burn njury.
Always grp the handle on the sdes of the machne when you lft the machne. Never lft
the machne by any of ts trays or attachments.
The fxng unt and ts surroundngs nsde the machne may become hot durng use.
When removng jammed paper or when nspectng the nsde of the machne, do not
touch the fxng unt and ts surroundngs, as dong so may result n burns or electrcal
shock.
Do not nsert any objects nto the slots or openngs on the machne snce they may touch
dangerous voltage ponts or short out parts. Ths could result n fre or electrc shock.
Do not allow small objects (such as pns, paper clps, or staples) to fall nto the machne.
