WARNING
•
When cleanin g the machine, fir s t turn OFF the main power s witch, then di s connect
the power cord. Failure to ob s erve the s e s tep s may re s ult in a fire or electrical s hock.
•
Di s connect the power cord from the power outlet re g ularly, and clean the area around
the ba s e of the power plu g’s metal pin s and the power outlet with a dry cloth to
en s ure that all du s t and g rime i s removed. If the power cord i s connected for a lon g
period of time in a damp, du s ty, or s moky location, du s t can build up around the
power plu g and become damp. Thi s may cau s e a s hort circuit and re s ult in a fire.
•
Clean the machine u s in g a s li g htly dampened cloth with a mild deter g ent mixed with
water. Do not u s e alcohol, benzene, paint thinner, or other flammable s ub s tance s .
Check deter g ent for flammability prior to u s e. If flammable s ub s tance s come into
contact with a hi g h-volta g e area in s ide the machine, it may re s ult in a fire or electrical
s hock.
•
There are s ome area s in s ide the machine which are s ubject to hi g h-volta g e s . When
removin g jammed paper or when in s pectin g the in s ide of the machine, do not allow
necklace s , bracelet s , or other metal object s to touch the in s ide of the machine, a s
thi s may re s ult in burn s or electrical s hock.
•
Do not burn or throw u s ed toner cartrid g e s into open flame s , a s thi s may cau s e the
toner remainin g in s ide the cartrid g e s to i g nite, re s ultin g in burn s or a fire.
•
If you accidentally s pill or s catter toner, carefully g ather the toner particle s to g ether
or wipe them up with a s oft, damp cloth in a way that prevent s inhalation.
Never u s e a vacuum cleaner that doe s not have s afe g uard s a g ain s t du s t explo s ion s
to clean up s pilled toner. Doin g s o may cau s e a malfunction in the vacuum cleaner, or
re s ult in a du s t explo s ion due to s tatic di s char g e.
•
Make s ure that the power plu g i s firmly in s erted into the power outlet after cleanin g
the machine. Do not u s e the machine while the connection i s loo s e, a s doin g s o may
cau s e a fire.
•
Check the power cord and power plu g re g ularly. If the followin g condition s occur,
contact your local authorized Canon dealer, a s the condition may cau s e a fire:
- There are burn mark s on the power plu g .
- The blade on the power plu g i s deformed or broken.
- The power g oe s OFF and ON when the power cord i s bent.
- There are cut s , crack s , or indentation s on the power cord.
- A part of the power cord become s hot.
•
Check the power cord and power plu g re g ularly to make s ure that they are not
handled in the followin g manner, a s thi s may re s ult in a fire or electrical s hock:
- The connection part of the power plu g i s loo s e.
- S tre ss i s bein g applied to the power cord by a heavy object or by affixin g it with s taple s .
- The power plu g i s loo s e.
- The power cord i s tied in a bundle.
- The power cord protrude s into a walkway.
- The power cord i s in front of a heater.
