Adjusting the Aperture
You can affect the brightness of your recordings or change the depth of field by adjusting the aperture.
The camera offers 3 ways to adjust the aperture but available aperture values will vary depending on the lens
attached. By default, the camera is set to manual aperture.
Manual aperture: Adjust the aperture value manually using the control dial on the camera or on the grip unit, or
remotely, using Browser Remote on a connected Wi-Fi device (
A
120, 124).
Push Auto Iris*: Momentary automatic aperture. During manual aperture, press an assignable button or use
Browser Remote (
A
120, 124) to temporarily adjust the aperture automatically.
Automatic aperture**: The camera adjusts the aperture automatically.
* Not available when a Canon Cinema lens is attached to the camera.
**Available only with compatible EF lenses (
A
213).
Manual Aperture
You can adjust the aperture value of an EF lens using the control dial on the camera or the grip unit. You can
select the function assigned to each control dial independently.
By default, both control dials’ function is set to aperture control. If it has been changed, follow the procedure
below to set in advance the function of one of the control dials to [Iris].
Assigning aperture control to a control dial
1 Open the [Camera Control Dial] (control dial on the camera) or [Grip
Control Dial] (control dial on the grip unit) submenu.

2 Select [Iris] and then press SET.
