Adjusting the Focus
Activating AF Lock
Press the AF LOCK button.
• The frame at the center of the screen will turn gray and the focus will
be locked. Press the button again to deactivate AF lock.
Remote Operation Using Browser Remote
After completing the necessary preparations (
A
153), you can use
the one-shot AF and continuous AF functions remotely from a Wi-Fi
enabled device using the Browser Remote application.
1 Set the focus mode switch on the lens to AF in advance.
To Use Continuous AF
2 Press [AF MODE] so that the ONE-SHOT AF/AF LOCK button displays [AF LOCK].
3 If necessary, press [AF LOCK] to activate AF lock.
• The frame at the center of the screen will turn gray and the focus will be locked. Press
the button again to deactivate AF lock.
To Use One-shot AF
2 Press [AF MODE] so that the ONE-SHOT AF/AF LOCK button displays [ONE-SHOT AF].
3 Press [ONE-SHOT AF] to activate one-shot AF.
• An AF frame appears at the center of the live view screen and the camcorder will focus
automatically.
• The AF frame turns green (correct focus) or red (when the camcorder cannot focus
automatically) and then disappears after a few seconds.
NOTES
• The point where the camcorder focuses may change slightly depending on shooting conditions, such as subject,
brightness and zoom position. Check the focus before resuming shooting.
• When an optional RC-V100 Remote Controller is connected to the camcorder, you can adjust the focus with
the remote controller's FOCUS dial. At default settings, turn the dial right to focus farther and left to focus
nearer.
• Autofocus may not work well when [

[ISO/Gain]

[Extended Range] is set to [On] and
an ISO speed or gain value in the extended range is selected.
• One-shot AF is not available when the shutter speed mode is set to [Slow] and the shutter speed is set to 1/4
or 1/3.
• Autofocus may take longer in the following cases.
- When the frame rate (set in the video configuration) or shooting frame rate is set to PF29.97, 29.97P,
23.98P, PF25.00 or 25.00P.
- With some EF lenses, the camcorder may take longer to focus automatically or may not be able to focus
correctly. Visit your local Canon Web site for the latest information.
• Dual Pixel CMOS AF will not work in the following cases.
- When using an optional EF Extender.
- When face AF is set to [Face Priority] and a face is detected.
- When face AF is set to [Face Only].
