Cleaning the Platen Rollers
The platen rollers are located near the upper and lower sides of the
scanning glass to brush away dust as the rollers turn before scanning,
and to provide the selected background (white or black) for document
images.
Clean the platen rollers periodically using the following procedure.
Hint
The platen rollers are cleaned by wiping while rotating the rollers in
three stages.

Carefully raise the upper unit until it stops.

Press and hold the Stop key on the control panel for
approximately seconds.
Each time you press the Stop key, the upper and lower platen
rollers rotate in the following order: black
➔
white
➔
brush.
