5 Self Diagnosis
5.1 DADF Self Diagnosis
The microprocessor of the machine’s DADF controller PCB is equipped with a mecha-
nism to automatically check its condition; it executes diagnosis as needed and, upon detec-
tion of a fault, it indicates the fact in its host copier’s control panel.
The following table shows each code and its nature with timing of detection.
E400
Cause • The exchange of data with the host copier has a fault.
Timing • The communication is monitored at all times, and this error is identified
when it is disrupted for 5 sec or more.
E401
Cause • The pickup motor (M1) fails to rotate.
• The pickup roller sensor (S5) is faulty.
Timing • A flag is mounted to the spindle of the pickup motor (M1), and the rota-
tion of the motor is monitored in reference to its blocking the pickup
roller sensor (S5). This error is identified when the sensor does not turn
on and off twice or more within 1 sec.
E402
Cause • The belt motor (M2) fails to rotate.
• The belt motor clock sensor (S10) is faulty.
Timing • This error is identified when the number of belt motor clock pulses is be-
low a specific value for 200 msec.
E403
Cause • The pickup motor (M2) fails to rotate.
• The feed motor clock sensor (S9) is faulty.
Timing • The number of feed motor clock pulses is below a specific value for 200
msec.
E411
Cause • The original tray paper sensor (S1) is faulty.
• The registration sensor (S3) is faulty.
Timing • The output of the sensor is 2.3 V or more in the absence of paper.
1. If the self diagnostic mechanism has turned on, the machine may be re-
set by turning off its host copier’s power switch.
2. If the machine is out of order, copies may be made by opening the ma-
chine and placing originals on its host copier’s copyboard.
