Attaching a Gear Ring to the Lens and Fixing the Zoom Unit
Attaching a Gear Ring (commercially available) to the Lens
1.
Turn the camera rotator counter-clockwise so the main capture camera is on top.
2.
Turn the lens’s zoom ring until the Telephoto end.
To use the system in underslung position, turn the zoom ring until the wide-angle end.
3.
Attach the gear ring to the lens’s zoom ring while matching
the position of the zoom unit’s gear. Secure it in place with
an hex head bolt (M2.5) using the tool supplied with the
gear ring.
Refer to
Gear Ring Attachment Positions
A
Attach the gear ring in such a way that the extra part of the gear’s
end faces away from the zoom unit.
Make sure the gear ring is tight, without any slack, and with the
screw side facing up.
If the extra part at the end of the gear ring is too long, it may obstruct the operation of moving parts. In
such case, cutting the end of the gear ring, leaving only 1 – 2 cm (0.39 – 0.79 in.) is recommended.
Fixing the Zoom Unit
1.
Turn the camera rotator clockwise so the zoom unit is on top.
2.
Holding the zoom unit in place, loosen the fixation hex
head bolt (M6) using a 4 mm (0.16 in.) hex wrench. Adjust
the position of the zoom unit so the zoom unit’s gear
engages with the lens’s gear ring and secure it with the
fixation bolt.
3.
Attach the safety wire to the screw hole at the end of the
zoom unit shaft.
When using an EF100-400mm lens, pull the safety wire from the
inside of the of the camera rotator and attach it to screw hole at
the end of the zoom unit shaft.
Fasten the bolt while holding down the safety wire with one hand.
Place the safety wire in such a way that it does not obstruct the
operation of the zoom unit’s gear and gear ring.
