Cannot feed from tray B
: Reset paper

<Cause>

During the feed operation from cassette B, the cassette B feed sensor did not detect
the paper within the predefined time period. During the feed operation from cassette
B, the skew sensor of the print position sensor detected the paper being carried
obliquely.

<Probable faulty component>

Spindle, cassette B, feed motor, lower roll drive unit, upper roll drive unit, roll feed
roller drive unit, paper guide B, paper delivery roller, spur unit, feed roller, pressure
roller unit, paper guide A, roll feed roller, paper guide D, carriage unit, motor
controller, mech. controller, system controller.

<Action>

1. Remove and reset the paper.

If the problem persists after resetting the paper, perform steps 2 through 13.
Guess the source component of trouble along the paper path judging from the
location of the leading edge of the jammed paper.

2. Visual inspection:

Visually check the paper path and the paper feed drive subsystem/components to
ensure that the drive belt(s) are not off and no foreign objects are attached to the
surface of components.

3. Replace the spindle.
4. Replace the cassette B.
5. Check the feed motor.

Perform a continuity check of the feed motor. If the test fails, replace the feed
motor.

7. Replace the upper roll drive unit.
8. Replace the roll feed roller drive unit.
9. Disassemble and check the components associated with the paper path. Replace

Check the print position sensor to ensure that no foreign objects are attached to

13. Replace the system controller.
