Always use the specified spark plug with the
proper gap.
Torque the plug as specified. An overly-tight
or cross-threaded spark plug will damage the
threads in the spark plug hole.
1.
Remove the seat.
Protect your eyes! Wear safety glasses.
2.
Carefully clean the area surrounding the coil
with compressed air.
3.
Remove the air filter and the fuel tank.
4.
Use a 3/8” drive socket with a 2” deep 6mm
socket to loosen the coil retaining clip bolt just
enough so that the clip can be lifted and turned
to the side with the bolt still installed in the
crankcase cover. Space is tight here so avoid
removing the bolt.
5.
Cut the cable tie securing the connector latch.
6.
Use a thin flat blade screwdriver to lift the latch
up slightly and remove the harness connector
from the coil.
