POTENTIAL HAZARD
Fuel fire or explosion
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
The fuel tank on your vehicle has been designed to
be removed without having to drain the fuel from it.
However, gasoline is extremely flammable and can
explode under certain conditions. A tank with fuel in
it can be heavy to handle, if you drop it or fuel spills
from the tank, the risk of fire or explosion is
increased. You can be seriously injured or killed in a
fuel accident.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
A filled tank is heavy so be sure you can safely lift
and handle the tank before you attempt to remove
the tank from the vehicle.
Make sure the work area is free of things that can
ignite fuel. (e.g., sparks, flame, welders, cigarettes,
torches, etc.).
Make sure the fuel cap is tightened securely.
Wipe up any spilled gasoline quickly.
Position the bottom of the fuel tank on a level
surface away from the work area.
