Lynx DSA User's Manual - 9240227J

Verify the USB Connection

To verify the USB connection, and to access the Lynx system.

Disconnect your Ethernet cable connection, if it is connected (temporarily for

testing the USB connection).

Connect the USB cable from your PC to the Lynx, and activate your Internet

Browser.

In the URL line, type in

10.0.0.2

, and press

Enter

to connect.

The Lynx’s main access page should open.

RS-232 Connections

Note: This section applies only to legacy 32-bit Windows Operating Systems. This

communication interface is not supported by 64-bit Operating Systems.

A connection for RS-232 communications for either a wired connection or using an

external modem requires Microsoft’s Remote Access Services (RAS) transport

protocol to establish the connection. This means that a browser running on the PC

can be used to access and control the Lynx.

For simplicity in describing the different RS-232 connections in this manual, a wired

RS-232 connection is described as a

Serial Connection

, and an RS-232 connection

using an external Modem is considered a

Modem Connection

Setting Up for a Serial Connection

Microsoft’s Remote Access Services (RAS) is used to connect with Lynx via a wired

RS-232 connection. Once configured, a browser running on the PC will be used to

access the Lynx.

The factory-default RAS settings for the Lynx are outlined in the sections below. By

default, the RAS interface is enabled and the factory-default settings can be used to

establish an initial RAS connection between the PC and the Lynx. To change any

parameter from its factory-default settings, the Lynx’s alternate web pages must be

accessed through the direct Ethernet connection using the “crossover” cable

discussed in earlier steps.
