CAUTION: Do not start engine
when liquid or deposits are found
in the drain tubes.

When liquid/deposits are found, the
air filter must be inspected/dried/
replaced depending on its condition.

Remove air filter as explained below.

Air Filter

Removal

CAUTION: Never remove or mod-
ify any component in the air filter
housing. Always use genuine parts
or suitable equivalent when replac-
ing air filter. The engine is cali-
brated to operate specifically with
these components. Otherwise, en-
gine performance degradation or
damage can occur.

Remove seat.

Release clamps and remove air filter
housing cover.

Loosen clamp and remove filter.

Pour air filter cleaner (P/N 219 700
341) or an equivalent into a bucket.
Put the filter in to soak.

While filter soaks, clean inside of air
filter housing.

Rinse air filter with warm water.

Squeeze foam to remove excess wa-
ter. Let dry air filter thoroughly.

NOTE:

Slight dust may be cleaned us-

ing a low-pressure airgun. Blow com-
pressed air backward of operating air
flow.

If air filter element is damaged, replace
with a new one.

When the filter is dried, re-oil with air
filter oil (P/N 219 700 340) or an equiv-
alent.

Installation

Properly reinstall removed parts in the
reverse order of their removal.

Spark Arrester

The muffler spark arrester must be
periodically cleaned from accumulat-
ed carbon. Refer to
