4 INSTALLATION AND START-UP
4.1 Installation
The following operations must be performed during the first use:
•
Extension pole mounting; See paragraph 4.1.4
•
Adjust the correct tension in the pruner chain; see paragraph 4.1.1
•
Connect the tool to the compressed air supply circuit; See paragraph 4.1.2
•
Chain lubrication. See paragraph 4.1.3
Furthermore, after the first use and before starting operations; check that:
•
there are no loose screws on the tool;
•
the chain is properly tensioned, sharp and without signs of damage;
•
the handles are clean and dry;
•
the oil level in the container of the compressor lubricator and top up to the maximum level if necessary;
• all safety and protection systems are working and assembled correctly.
4.1.1 Chain tension adjustment
CAUTION!
The teeth of the chain are sharp, put-on protective gloves before starting.
Perform the following operations in order to adjust chain tension:
1.
Disconnect the tool from the compressed air supply pipe.
2.
Loosen the nuts (5).
3.
Turn the adjustment screw (9) clockwise, until the chain adapts perfectly to the lower part of the bar (1) and can be
detached from the bar by approximately 2-4 mm when lifted.
4.
Lock the nuts (5) after reaching this adjustment.
CAUTION! Do not overtighten the chain as this will excessively strain the motor.
If the chain is too tight, loosen the fixing nut of the casing and rotate the screw (9) anti-clockwise to slacken
it. Check if the tension is correct once again.
IMPORTANT!
The chain (2) has a tendency to expand or shrink when using the tool, changing its tension. Periodi-
cally check the tension of the chain and adjust it if necessary.
Do not tension the chain when it is elongated due to heat. Wait for it to cool down before adjusting it again.
Tensioning a hot chain may cause over-tension.
IMPORTANT!
If the chain is new, it requires a break-in period during which its tension must be checked more often.
CAUTION! Never leave the chain slack since it causes the components to wear rapidly and it may come
out of the bar when cutting causing dangerous situations
.
CAUTION! Chain tension must be checked every time an operation is started, after the first cuts and
regularly every ten minutes.
