Adaptive Bandwidth Notification (EOAM)
Adaptive Bandwidth Notification (ABN, also known as EOAM) enables third party applications to
learn about bandwidth changes in a radio link when ACM is active. Once ABN is enabled, the radio
unit reports bandwidth information to third-party switches.
Figure 64 Network Topology with PTP 820S Units and Third-Party Equipment
The ABN entity creates a logical relationship between a radio interface, called the Monitored
Interface, and an Ethernet interface or a logical group of Ethernet interfaces, called the Control
Interface. When bandwidth degrades from the nominal bandwidth value in the Monitored
Interface, messages relaying the actual bandwidth values are periodically sent over the Control
Interface. A termination message is sent once the bandwidth returns to its nominal level.
Figure 65 ABN Entity
The nominal bandwidth is calculated by the system based on the maximum bandwidth profile.
