Setup
Power Supply
The ventilator should be connected to an external AC power source for battery charging and when
the ventilator is in use.
• Ensure a multi-plug AC power outlet exists in the workspace to charge the ventilator and
its powered components.
• Ensure that the voltage of the supply meets the product specifications in the Specifications
section of this guide. Applying voltage that is too high will damage the equipment.
• Plug in the ventilator to a power source using only the power cord provided. Use the
diagram provided in the Unpacking Instructions t o identify the designated cord associated
with this equipment.
• Power on the ventilator for a minimum of four hours prior to first use by pressing the
Power button on the front of the CAE Air1 to charge the backup Lithium-ion battery. The
four hours to charge the Lithium-ion battery are additional to the 12 hours for the UPS
battery to charge.
Note: This preparation step should take place before the ventilator is ready to be used
and setup for a patient to be connected (as noted in the Setup Procedure section). Aside
from charging the Lithium-ion battery, do not power on any components until instructed
to do so in the Setup Procedure section of this user guide.
Cleaning and Disinfecting before Use
Clean and disinfect the ventilator prior to placing in a patient room or work area. See the Care and
Maintenance section of this guide for approved disinfecting products.
Setup Procedure
After unpacking the ventilator and completing the setup preparation, follow the setup procedure
steps.
