memory from well known vendors, such as Micron Corporation. In addition, it includes an on-
drive intelligent controller that manages interface protocols, data storage and retrieval as
well as ECC, defect handling and diagnostics, power management, and clock control. The
controller’s firmware is upgradeable, thus allowing feature enhancements and firmware
updates while keeping the BOM stable.
