PART 4-TRACER CALIBRATION

with thick lines (greater than 4mm). Adjust the internal corner speed pot
(P2) until the desired speed is achieved.

 4.2.3  MAXIMUM SPEED SETTING

Determine the maximum speed of the machine, either in millimeters per
minute (mm/min) or inches per minute (in/min), using the following
procedure. Then look up that value in the table and set dipswitch S1 on the
Logic board to the corresponding On and Off settings. See Drawing BO-
21679 in Part 7 for the location of S1.

1.  Set the Speed switch to HIGH. Turn up the Speed pot to maximum (10).

Jog the machine in any direction over a measured distance. Time how long
in minutes it takes the machine to travel the set distance. Divide the
distance by the time and convert to inches/min or mm/min. The longer the
measurement distance, the more accurate the speed measurement.

If the time is measured in minutes and seconds or seconds alone, use the
following formula to convert the seconds to minutes:

Minutes = Seconds / 60

      For example if the time measured 44 seconds, the conversion would

 be:

Minutes = 44 / 60 = 0.733min

This value would be divided into the distance in millimeters (inches)
moved by the machine in that time. The maximum speed would then be:

Max Speed    =   (120”) / 0.733min =  163.7 in/min

      or              3048 mm / 0.733min = 4157.98mm/min.

Rounding off :

Max Speed = 4160 mm/min (164 in/min)

2.  Now find the maximum speed in the table closest to your measured speed.

Set dipswitch S1 on the Logic board to the corresponding settings (1
means on, 0 means off).
