Cleaning the glassware
NOTICE
Clean glass components by hand in order to avoid damage.
NOTE
Inserting a thin copper wire into the coil of the secondary condenser reduces algae
growth in the coil.
u
Using a wash bottle, squirt ethanol into the cleaning hole of the cooling condenser
and rinse it out.
u
After rinsing allow the ethanol to drain out.
u
Remove the ethanol from the receiving flask.
u
Use an alkaline cleaning agent to remove stubborn dirt (e.g. algae in the con-
denser coil).
u
Remove grease from joints.
u
Carry out a distillation process in order to dry the glassware.
u
Make sure that there is no fluid in the system.
ð
The glassware must be dry.
u
Check the glassware for cracks.
u
Dispose of damaged glassware.

Cleaning the heating bath
NOTICE
Risk of short circuit from fluid penetration into device
u
Do not immerse heating bath or rotary drive unit in water or pour water over them.
u
Only wipe down the casing with a damp cloth.
Clean the heating bath bowl if
the water in the heating bath is contaminated.
limescale deposits are starting to form.
the steel surface of the heating bath is starting to rust.
the oil in the oil bath has changed (colour, viscosity, etc.).

Disconnect the power supply for the heating bath.
u
Disconnect the power supply for the rotary drive unit.
u
Allow the heating bath to cool down.
u
Empty the heating bath.
u
Remove small amounts of limescale in the bowl of the heating bath using non-
abrasive cleaners (e.g. household cleaner and washing-up sponge).
u
Use acetic acid to dissolve stubborn limescale deposits.
u
Use an abrasive cloth/pad to remove rust.
u
Rinse out the heating bath.

Cleaning the Woulff bottle
u
Unscrew the glass part of the Woulff bottle from the holder.
u
Clean the glass part with ethanol to remove residues.
u
Screw the glass part back into the holder.
