6.11 Maintenance of the Autosampler
6.11.1 General
Optimum performance of the Autosampler is ensured by rou-
tine and preventive maintenance procedures. The procedures
described below should reflect the frequency and duration
with which the Autosampler is used.
6.11.2 Syringe and syringe needle
Dangerous chemicals, use eye and skin protection measures.
Cleaning
Remove the needle from the syringe before attempting the
cleaning procedures described below.
As only clear solvent is used, cleaning is only necessary
occasionally. If, however, the inner surfaces of the syringe are
soiled or discoloured, the syringe must be rinsed once again
using a suitable solvent.
Needle replacement
To replace the needle, proceed as follows:
•
Loosen the knurled nut
•
Remove the old needle from the syringe
•
Fit the new needle
•
Retighten the knurled nut
•
Mount the syringe on the syringe mounting bracket
•
Check that the needle is positioned correctly
•
Rinse out the syringe several times (press “
Start
”,
“
Shift S
” and repeat, see Chapter 5.28)
6.11.3 Replacing the main power fuse
To replace the main power fuse, proceed as follows:
•
Pull the power plug at the rear of the Autosampler
•
Open the cover of the fuse module (refer to Figure 15,
paragraph 4.11.8 power voltage connection at the
Autosampler B-821) with a narrow screwdriver
•
Snap out the defective fuse
•
Insert a fuse of the same voltage and amperage
•
Replace the cover
