14.2 - NETWORK BIT DEPTH

Network bit depth refers to the bit depth at which video data is encapsulated, packetized and
sent to connected fixtures.
Front- side processing is always 12 bit and is unrelated to Network bit depth. Processing bit
depth is always 16 bit and is also unrelated to Network bit depth.
By default, network bit depth is 12 bit, however can be changed to 8 or 10 bit. Lowering the
network bit depth allows for m ore panels to be attached to the processor. The network bit
depth should always be equal or better than the input source bit depth. For exam ple, DVI is 8
bit and SDI is 10 bit. Reducing the bit depth will reduce the im age quality. Depending on the
source this can also affect the adjustm ent of param eters such as RGB gain, brightness and
contrast.

Additional video delay allows the output refresh to be delayed by up to 5 fram es. This allows
