Add Engine Oil and Fuel
NOTICE
Be sure you have attached wheels and support leg prior to this
step.
NOTICE
You MUST properly fill engine with oil before attempting to start
generator.
NOTICE
DO NOT use unapproved fuel such as E85.
NOTICE
DO NOT mix oil in fuel.
NOTICE
DO NOT modify engine to run on alternate fuels.
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface.
1.
Clean area around oil fill and remove yellow oil fill cap/dipstick (E).
2.
4
Using oil funnel (optional), slowly pour contents of both provided oil
3.
bottles (h) into oil fill opening to the “Full” mark on dipstick.
Replace oil fill cap/dipstick and fully tighten.
4.
Clean area around fuel fill cap, remove cap.
5.
Slowly add unleaded fuel to fuel tank. Be careful not to fill above
6.
the red fuel level indicator (F). This allows adequate space for fuel
expansion.
5
Install fuel cap and let any spilled fuel evaporate before starting
7.
engine.
Move Generator to
Safe Operating Location
Move generator outdoors to a flat, level surface, in an area that will
1.
not accumulate deadly exhaust gas. DO NOT place generator where
exhaust gas could accumulate and enter inside or be drawn into a
potentially occupied building. Ensure exhaust gas is kept away from
any windows, doors, ventilation intakes, or other openings that can
allow exhaust gas to collect in a confined area. Prevailing winds and
air currents should be taken into consideration when positioning
generator.
6
To reduce the risk of exhaust heat or exhaust gases igniting nearby
2.
combustible material, keep at least 5 feet (1.5 m) clearance on all
sides of generator, including overhead.
Start Generator
NOTICE
Always
unplug the battery float charger (g) before starting the
generator.
Make sure unit is on a level surface. Disconnect all electrical loads
1.
from the generator.
Turn the fuel valve (G) to the “On” position.
2.
7
Pull choke control (H) out to close choke (
3.
)
.
8
Start generator using Electric or Manual starting.
4.
For electric starting,
turn and hold key (J) in start switch to start
position (
)
until generator starts. To prolong the life of starter
components, DO NOT hold key in start position (
)
for more
than 15 seconds, and pause for at least 1 minute between starting
attempts
.
9
For manual starting,
turn key in start switch to run position (I),
grasp recoil handle (K) and pull slowly until slight resistance is felt.
Then pull rapidly one time only to start engine.
10
Open the choke (H) gradually as the engine warms up by pushing in
5.
on the choke handle.
8
If engine does not start, refer to operator’s manual for detailed
6.
starting instructions.
Plug in Items to be Powered
Let engine stabilize and warm up for a few minutes after starting.
1.
Connect electrical loads in OFF position, then turn ON for operation.
2.
NOTICE
When plugging into the 120 Volt receptacles (L), plug items to
be powered in sequence as shown.
11
Plug in and turn on the desired 120 Volt (L) and/or 240 Volt (M) AC,
3.
single phase, 60 Hz electrical loads.
11
NOTICE
DO NOT connect 240 Volt loads to the 120 Volt duplex
receptacles.
NOTICE
DO NOT connect 3-phase loads to the generator.
NOTICE
DO NOT connect 50 Hz loads to the generator.
NOTICE
DO NOT OVERLOAD THE GENERATOR. See
Don’t Overload
Generator.
Refer to Operator’s Manual.
Shut Down Generator
Turn OFF and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel
1.
receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices
plugged in and turned on.
Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize internal
2.
temperatures of engine and generator.
Turn key (J) in start switch to off position (O).
3.
9
Move fuel valve (G) to “Off” position.
4.
7
To prepare for storage, refer to Operator’s Manual.
