1. Location

Before starting, choose a suitable location for microscoping. Please
take care that your microscope stands on an even and solid ground.
For observing, a 230 V / 50 Hz mains socket is required.

2. Illumination

With the Analyth ICD, you have three illumination options: incident light,
transmitted light and both. Firstly, take care that the dimmers (15 and
16) are switched off (turn back in direction to the pointed corner of the
triangle), while the power switch (19) is switched off. Connect the 230
V cord to the power supply (20) and then to the mains socket. Switch
on the power switch (19). With the dimmer (15), you can adjust the
brightness of transmitted light, and with the dimmer (16), you can adjust
the brightness of incident light.

3. Observation

First, remove the dust cover (8) from the objective. There are two object
plates for your choice: a black/white plastic plate (10, A) and a
transparent glass plate (12, B). Insert the chosen object plate and fix
it with the fixing screw (11). Place the object to be viewed in the centre
of the object plate (10 or 12). Secure the object with clamps (9) if
necessary.
For incident illumination, you can use both sides of the plastic object
plate (10). If you have bright objects, the black side is advantageous;
if you have dark objects, the white side is recommended for
contrastive imaging.
For transmitted illumination, use the glass object plate (12). The blue
filter disc (13) should not be removed in order to have the same colour
temperature for incident and transmitted light, because incident
illumination uses a blue filter disc (23), too. The objective’s
magnification factor (2x or 4x) can be adjusted by turning the objective
shaft (7). It is recommended to start observations always with the
lowest magnification (2x objective). In order to avoid incidence of
disturbing light, put the rubber eyecups (2) upon both eyepieces (3).
Now, look through the eyepieces (3). Adjust the sharpness of the image
with the focusing wheel (18).

4. Adjustment of interpupillary distance

The Analyth ICD is equipped with an adjustable binocular viewing (4)
on the microscope head (5). The individual interpupillary distance, or
the distance between both eyepieces, is important for user’s comfort.
To set your interpupillary distance, move the eyepieces against each
other by “folding” until you find the ideal position.

5. Dioptre adjustment

The compensation for the individual dioptres of the eyes is done by
the dioptre scale (1) on the right eyepiece. Adjust the dioptre scale on
the right eyepiece to the middle position (silver circle). Shut your right
eye and use the focusing wheel (18) to focus for your left eye. Now shut
your left eye and adjust the focus for your right eye by turning the
dioptre scale (1). Now, the microscope is adjusted for your eyes.

6. Exchanging the halogen reflector lamp

(incident illumination)

Switch off the power switch (19) and pull out the plug of the power cord
from mains socket. Wait until the hot lamp is cooled down certainly.
For replacing the halogen reflector lamp, remove the cover of incident
light source (17) (by turning it anti-clockwise) from the housing (G). Pull
out straightly ahead the old halogen reflector lamp (22) from the lamp
base (H).  Insert a new halogen reflector lamp of the same type (12 V
/ 10 W). Reinstall the cover of incident light source (17) on the housing.
Due to the danger of burning, never use the incident illumination
without the cover (17 and 23)!

7. Exchanging the halogen lamp (transmitted illumination)

Switch off the power switch (19) and pull out the plug of the power cord
from mains socket. Wait until the hot lamp is cooled down certainly.
For replacing the halogen lamp, incline the microscope carefully to see
the bottom side, loose the fixing screw of the lamp door (E) on the
bottom side using a screw driver, and open the lamp door (F). Pull out
straightly ahead the old halogen lamp (14) from the lamp base. Insert
a new halogen lamp of the same type (12 V / 10 W). Reinstall the lamp
door and tighten the fixing screw (E). Notice the properly touching of
a new lamp; take care not to touch the lamp with bare fingers. E.g.,
use the protective envelope of the lamp, which should be delivered with
it, or use a tissue, in order to grasp the bulb. This avoids contamination,
which can reduce the brightness and life time of the lamp. If you have
touched the new bulb with your bare fingers, clean it with alcohol before
using it.

8. Exchanging the fuse

Switch off the power switch (19) and pull out the plugs of the power
cord from mains socket and from mains in at the microscope (20). Open
the fuse holder (reach with a small screwdriver into the loop and pull
forwards). Take out the fuse holder (21). Exchange the old fuse by a
new one of the same type (250 V / 2 A, F). Install the fuse holder und
plug again.

CAUTION! To work with this microscope, sharp and pointed aids are being used. Please take care that this microscope and its accessories
are stored at a place out of reach of children. Let children only work with this microscope under an adult’s supervision! Keep packing material
(plastic bags etc.) away from children!

Do not dispose of electric equipment together with household waste material!
In observance of European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and its implementation

in accordance with national law, electric equipment that have reached the end of its life must be collected separately and returned to an
environmentally compatible recycling facility. Discharged batteries and damaged re-chargeable batteries must be disposed of at special
battery collection points. Information is available from your local disposal agent or local authority regarding the disposal of devices or batteries
manufactured after the 01.06.2006
