40 Preparing the Vivo 45 for Use

Ensure that the treatment settings and alarm settings are adjusted as
prescribed.

If needed, perform a pre-use test. (The Vivo 45 might be set up for
prompting a pre-use test when powering up.)

Press and hold the Start/Stop button until the progress bar is filled.

Check that a beep is heard when the Vivo 45 is started. This is the
alarm beeper test, if there is no signal, do not use the Vivo 45 and con-
tact your service provider.

Disconnect the power supply for more than 5 seconds. Check that
the device switches to the internal battery (or click-in battery if con-
nected) and that a
Lost main power alarm is shown on the screen together
with an audible warning. If this is not the case contact your service pro-
vider.

Reconnect the power supply. Check that the device switches to the
mains supply and that an information message is shown on the screen
together with an audible signal.
4.6 Adjusting the Vivo 45 Patient Settings
For detailed information about the treatment parameters of the Vivo 45,
see “Functions and Parameters in the Vivo 45” on page 61.
Follow the instructions below when setting up the Vivo 45:
• Adjust the settings to find the best possible breathing comfort for
each patient.
• If you have changed the ventilation mode, press Select Next and
review the settings before pressing Confirm .
• Always document the patient settings.
• The ventilator always starts in the mode and with the settings that
were active when it was switched off.
The configuration of the Vivo 45 therapy settings must always be pre-
scribed by a licensed physician and carried out by an authorised health
care professional.
