2.5.3 Potential Equalization Connection
General Information
The function of the potential equalization conductor is:
• To equalize potentials between different metal parts that can be touched simultaneously.
• To reduce differences of potential that can occur between medical electrical devices and
conductive parts of other objects during operation.
NOTE: The Potential Equalization Pin is not accessible if the Computer is wall mounted. A
potential equalization connection to the system is optional. When connecting POAG, an ME
System is created.
NOTE: Not applicable to the Digital OR Computer For Barco Integration, which is placed
outside the OR in a non-medical room.

Step
1. Plug potential equalization cables into potential equalization port on the computer.
2. Plug potential equalization cables into an equivalent wall outlet.
Before using the system and while the system is still turned off, connect the potential equalization
cable to the device and the corresponding wall outlet.
