Turn off and lockout p ower to the po wer supply before
servicing StepMetrix power supply. Failure to do so could
cause serious injury or death.
7.1
Load Cell
Note whether or n ot the status LED, located on the
front of the controller, is flashing green.
1. Shut off the circuit break er to the po wer supply of the
controller.
2. If the status LED was flashing green, wait for LED D28
to turn off, then continue to t he next step. It could tak e
several minutes for D28 to turn off. See either Figure
14 or 22 for the locati on of the LED. If the status LED
was not flashing green, continue to the next step.
3. Connect the discharge resistor to J4 4 of t he power
board (see Figure 14b [BM] or 26 [ISO] ).
4. Wait for all LEDs on the po wer board to turn off. (2-3
minutes).
5. Disconnect the discharge resistor from J44 of the
power board. The system will not restart with this
resistor connected.
6. Disconnect the load cell cable from the loa d cell signal
conditioning board.
7. Remove the clamps that hold the flex conduit to the ID
antenna and side rail of sensor module and remove the
rubber mat on the sens or module platform side th at
needs the load cell replaced.
8. Remove the sensor mo dule platform on th e side that
needs the load cell replaced (see Figure 13 or 21) after
removing the rubber mat.
9. Open the junction box and locate the bad load cell
cable. Cut the load cell cable between the load cell and
the ¾” (19 mm) flex conduit.
10. Pull the ¼” (6 mm) stainless steel flex conduit off of the
old Load cell cable, and install it o n the new load cell
cable.
11. Replace the load cell.
12. Fasten the end of th e new load cell cable to the old
load cell ca ble and usi ng a generous supply of wire
pulling lubricant, use the old cable to pull the new cable
through the ¾ ” (12 mm) condu it. (It will probably be
necessary to disconnect the flex conduit from the strain
relief and pull the conduit straight to pull the new cable
through).
13. Install the se nsor module platform and re- attach the
flex conduit.
14. Cut the load cell cable to length and connect the wires
to the load cell signal conditioning board.
15. Number the load cell cable to corr espond to the load
cell it is connected to.
16. Switch on the circuit breaker to th e StepMetrix
controller power supply.
17. After replacing a load cell, the StepMetrix must be re-
calibrated (See section 2.5 of these instructions).
7.2
ID Control
1. Note whether or not the status LED is flashing green
located on the front of the controller.
2. Shut off the circuit breaker to the power supply of the
controller.
3. If the status LED was flashing green wait for LED D28
to turn off, then continue to the next step. It could take
several minutes for D28 to turn off. (see Figure 14b
[BM] or 26 [ISO] ). If the status LED was not flashing
green continue to the next step.
4. Connect the discharge resistor to J44 of the power
board. See Figure x for location.
5. Wait for all LEDs on the power board to turn off. (2-3
minutes).
6. Disconnect the discharge resistor from J44 of the
power board. The system will not restart with this
resistor connected.
7. Disconnect the ID c ontrol’s power, receiver and
transmit antenna wires, and unplug the communication
cable from the ID control to the control assembly (see
Figure 14 or 22). Remove the bushings from the bottom
of the ID control.
8. Remove the two screws on each side of the ID control
to remove the control from the mounting bracket.
9. Reverse Steps 7 and 8 to install the new control.
10. Verify that there is a jumper wire from pin 2 to 5 of J5.
Verify the rotary switch settings. SW1 must be set to 1
and SW2 set to C.
11. Verify that the ID control power switch is on.
12. Switch on the circuit breaker to th e StepMetrix
controller power supply.
Refer to ID controller instructions 9ES-768 to tune the
transmitter and adjust tag distance.
