9.3 Evaluating Commands of the Operating Elements
9.3.1 General Information
Different operating activities can be triggered via the keys on the front panel.
Besides the navigation key block providing the functionality of the cursor, input
and escape key, F-keys are arranged below the display. These F-keys can be
used for special tasks. Depending on the design – in addition to the keys –
further operating elements like override and handwheel can be provided on the
front panel.
9.3.2 Evaluation of the Operating Status in the Control
The operating state of the F-keys, the enabling function and the additional op‐
erating elements are transmitted directly into the control via a real-time protocol
in Ethernet communication. In the control the state of the operating elements
can be evaluated by means of a function block. The bit assignment within the
function block to the operating elements is specified and cannot be modified by
the user.
The keys of the navigation key block are not transmitted into the control.
