Coolant inlet temperature
The motors are designed in compliance with DIN EN 60034-1 for operation at
coolant temperatures of +10 ... +40 °C. This temperature range must be com‐
plied with. Higher coolant temperatures cause a higher reduction of the avail‐
able torque. Due to high temperature gradients, lower coolant temperatures
can result in the destruction of the motor.
Install systems in the cooling circuit for monitoring flow, pressure
and temperature.
Setting the inlet temperature
When setting the coolant inlet temperature, comply with the temperature
range specified and the existing ambient temperature. The lower limit of the
recommended coolant inlet temperature can be limited in relation to the exist‐
ing ambient temperature. To avoid condensation, the lowest value that is al‐
lowed to be set is therefore only a temperature of max. 5 °C below the exist‐
ing ambient temperature.
Example 1:
Specified temperature range: +10 ... +40 °C
Ambient temperature: +20 °C
Coolant inlet temperature to be set: +15 ... +40 °C
Example 2:
Specified temperature range: +10 ... +40 °C
Ambient temperature: +30 °C
Coolant inlet temperature to be set: +25 ... +40 °C
The coolant inlet temperature must be set in a temperature range
of +10 ... +40 °C and should only be max. 5 °C below the existing
ambient temperature to avoid condensation.

Dimensioning the cooling circuit
General information
For dimensioning of the cooling circuit, the power loss P

consumed by the
water in the coolant system of the motor has to be taken into account. The
heat energy taken up by the water depends on the flow rate Q in l/min and
the temperature difference ΔT of inlet and outlet. Above the motor, a pres‐
sure drop Δp between the water connections occurs.
