Preparation
4.5.1
Vehicle
!
Please observe safety instructions.
R
The engine must be at operating temperature
(according to manufacturer’s specification).
R
The exhaust pipe must not be leaking.
R
The engine settings, such as idle speed, start of
delivery, fuel quantity and full load stop, must
conform to the manufacturer’s specification.
4.5.2
BEA 070
i
The BEA 070 requires a warm-up time of approx.
3 minutes after switch-on. No exhaust gas
measurement is possible during this time.
i
To ensure that exhaust gas measurement conforms
to standards, the BEA 070 must not be positioned
directly in the flow of exhaust gas (immediately
in front of the exhaust pipe). The exhaust gas
sampling hose must not be kinked!
1. The exhaust gas sampling probe and sampling hose
must be checked for clogging and damage before
measurement.
2.
If the vehicle has an exhaust gas recirculation hose
(special accessory), attach this to the connection
(fig. 1, pos. 10) of the BEA 070 and connect to the
extraction system.
i
The suction power of the extraction system must
not exceed 20 m/s, in order to prevent false
measurement results. Only extract the exhaust gas
using an extraction system with funnel.
3. Replace the oil dipstick in the engine compartment
with an oil temperature sensor. To do so, adjust the
sealing cone of the oil temperature sensor to the
insertion length of the dipstick.
4.
Attach and connect the rotational speed sensor.
5.
Only insert the exhaust gas sampling probe in
the exhaust pipe after the warm-up phase of the
BEA 070 and following several cleaning bursts of
throttle by a warm engine.
