edge of control
4.1 Principle of the master control
The
airtelligence provis 3
is a master compressor control with its own switch
cabinet.
It controls one or more compressed airnets, each consisting of several inter-
linked compressors, the multiple compressor system. It coordinates the com-
pressed air production of the individual multiple compressor systems or
compressed airnets.
Each compressor (e.g. BOGE S 111-4 LF, C 22-2) in a compressed airnet
usually possesses its own control, which is subordinated to
airtelligence pro-
vis 3
(e.g. BOGE focus control 2.0, base control). It exclusively manages,
monitors and controls the settings and operation of the individual compressor.
The subordinate control must be set up in such a way that it follows the spec-
ifications of the master control so that, e.g., the master control can request the
corresponding compressor output via the subordinate control, when com-
pressed air is required. Therefore, the corresponding instructions in the oper-
ating instructions of the subordinate compressor controls should also be
observed.
In addition to compressors, compressed air treatment components (e.g. dry-
ers, filters), separate compressed air receivers and other equipment (e.g. tem-
perature sensors) can be connected and monitored by the control.
Tasks of the master con-
trol in compressed air-
nets
The primary task of the control is the
monitoring
of the functionality of one or
several compressed airnets. Using the touch panel, important information
about each net that has been set up, including detailed data on all the com-
pressors contained therein, can be called up or controlled.
The second essential task of the control is the efficient
regulation
of the oper-
ation of several interlinked compressors within a multiple compressor system,
i.e. the demand-based control of the compressed air production of a com-
pressed airnet.
For this purpose, superordinate control settings can be set up via the control.
These are necessary so that each net can produce compressed air by using
its compressors according to individual requirements. This includes, for exam-
ple, setting of the pressure range that is to be generated in the compressed
airnet, as well as the definition of the time period in which compressors are to
produce compressed air (see „Part 5: Use of the control“, page 35
onwards).
The subordinate (slave) controls monitor and control exclusively the settings
and operation of their own compressor and must be set up according to the
specifications of the superordinate
airtelligence provis 3
, so that no conflicts
with the master control can arise.
The coordinated interaction of the compressors in the compressed airnet and
the high efficiency of compressed air production are regulated exclusively by
the master
control airtelligence provis 3
.
