Checking the footbrake
lever's ease of movement
Place the motorcycle on its
stand on firm, even ground.
Check the gearshift lever
mount
1 and deflection
points 2 for ease of movement.
In the event of stiff movement:
Have the footbrake lever
checked by a specialist
workshop, preferably by an
authorised BMW Motorrad
Retailer.
Checking the gearshift

Place the motorcycle on its
stand on firm, even ground.
Check gearshift lever mount 1
and deflection points 2 for
ease of movement.
For stiff movement:
Have gearshift lever checked
by a specialist workshop,
preferably an authorised
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Check the side stand's
ease of movement
Check the side stand's ability
to move by folding it in and
out.
If the side stand is stiff:
Have the side stand checked
by a specialist workshop,
preferably by an authorised
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Checking the side-stand
switch function
Switch off the engine and fold
out the side stand.
Operate and hold the clutch,
switch on the ignition and start
the engine.
The engine starts.
