Due to integration of the
BMW Motorrad Navigator
IV into the K 1600 B series,
some descriptions differ in the
Navigator operating instructions.
Traffic reports (traffic
information channel)
If an audio system is installed in
the vehicle, it will transmit the
traffic information to the Naviga-
tor. The symbol described in the
Navigator operating instructions
appears on the display.
The BMW Motorrad audio sys-
tem is unable to receive paid
subscription traffic information.
Range
A distance can be defined in the
fuel gauge settings for the dis-
tance covered on a full tank of
fuel. Since the motorcycle trans-
mits the remaining travel range
with the current fuel level to the
Navigator, manual entry of this
value is no longer necessary.
Time and date
The Navigator transmits the time
and date to the motorcycle. In
order for the instrument cluster
to accept this information, it has
to be activated in the user set-
tings of the motorcycle.
Security settings
A four-digit PIN can be used to
protect the BMW Motorrad Navi-
gator IV, BMW Motorrad Naviga-
tor V and BMW Motorrad Navi-
gator VI from unauthorized use
(Garmin Lock). When this func-
tion is activated, once the Navi-
gator GPS receiver is cradled on
the motorcycle and the ignition
is switched on you will receive
a prompt asking whether the
motorcycle should be added to
the list of secure vehicles. If you
confirm this question by answer-
ing "yes", the Navigator will save
the vehicle identification number
of this vehicle.
A maximum of five VINs can be
saved in this way.
Entering a PIN will no longer be
required when this is activated by
turning on the ignition switch in
any of these vehicles.
Removing the Navigator from the
motorcycle while the Navigator is
on will prompt a request for the
PIN for reasons of security.
Screen brightness
Screen brightness is adjusted
by the motorcycle while the unit
is cradled. Manual input is not
possible.
