Chapter 2: Getting to know your handheld
Cradle/Charger
The cradle provides a link between your handheld and your
computer, so that you can use the desktop software that is provided
with your package. The serial port on the bottom of the handheld
fits into the prongs of the cradle. You must connect the cradle to
your computer to use the desktop software.
Configuring handheld options
After you are familiar with your handheld, you should configure
some of its basic options.
To select a notification profile
You can select how your handheld notifies you of messages,
appointments, tasks, pages, and alarms.
1. On the Home screen, click the Profiles icon. The Profiles screen
appears.
The pager-sized handheld is powered by an AA
alkaline or a rechargeable NiMH battery that is located
in the battery compartment at the back of the handheld.
The palm-sized handheld contains an internal lithium
battery. Exact battery life depends on factors such as
amount of use and the quality of wireless coverage. The
cradle is used to recharge the handheld battery.
If you only want to charge your handheld and do not
want to use the desktop software, you do not need to
connect the cradle to your computer.
