Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How does equalizer (EQ) work?
Equalizer is a built-in electronic device used to fine-tune picture quality. Please turn rotary controller
counterclockwise from 7 to 0 to get the optimal vision. If you find the display is not showing properly, please check your cable connection
and then confirm you are within the maximum transmission limit.
2. What kind of LAN cable is recommended?
The transmission length is largely influenced by the type of LAN cables, the type of A/V
sources, and the type of A/V display. The testing result shows solid LAN cables (usually in 300m/1000ft form) can transmit HDMI™
signals a lot longer than stranded LAN cables (usually in patch cord form). Shielded STP cables perform better than unshielded UTP
cables. A solid UTP CAT 5e cable shows longer transmission length than stranded STP CAT 6 cable. For long extension users, solid
cables are the only choice.
3. I want HDMI™ extension length over stated specification, is that possible?
Yes. To extend HDMI™ signals above stated
specification, please use high quality HDMI™ cable (24 gauges) and CAT 6 solid STP cable. If longer extension is required, please set
HDMI™ source at lower resolutions.
4. I am using HD-1CAT-1080P-50 to receive HDMI™ signal, but there is no image on display.
HD-1CAT-1080P-50 is only intended to
use for shorter extension length without extra power. The maximum extension length is at 15m under 1080p, or 25m under 720p, or 1080i
resolution. If required application exceeds this extension limit, please use HD-1CAT-1080p-130.
5. There is no image and/or audio on HD display, what could be the problem?
First, please check all cables are properly installed.
Second, please check A/V source is functioning correctly. Third, please adjust EQ and turn mode to stereo audio.
6. It is still not working.
If the problem persists, please follow the EDID learning instruction stated below to learn specific EDID information
from your HD display. Then, repeat the sequences stated in previous question.
EDID Learning Instructions, ONLY FOR: HD-1CAT-1080P-130 and HD-1CAT-1080P-50
1. Turn on the transmitting end of the unit.
2. Turn the mode counterclockwise from number 0 (for 5.1 channel and 7.1 channel) or number 1 (for stereo) until you reach number 7.
3. Use an HDMI™ cable to connect the unit to the display (not the video source). The LED on the RJ-45 will dim and light again, which
indicates the EDID learning is finished.
4. Turn the mode clockwise from number 7 to number 0 (for 5.1 channel and 7.1 channel) or number 1 (for stereo). The most important
thing is not to turn the rotary arrow past 6, which will erase the EDID just learned and restore the factory default EDID.
5. Reconnect the unit as defined in the Installation Instructions.
