Tool Purpose
ESD protection device: either
wrist strap or heel strap.
ESD protection
Safety glasses
Eye protection
Multimeter
Voltage measurement and verification
Screwdrivers: Standard and
Phillips-head
Attach the chassis, power and alarm panel, and air
baffle to the rack.
Loosen and tighten the thumbscrews on the
modules.
Remove and install the fan tray.
Remove and install cover over electrical
terminals.
Attach cables to modules.
Cable or Wire strippers
Prepare power and chassis ground cables.
Prepare bare wire ends of alarm and DS-1 cables
if required.
Wire wrap tool
Attach alarm cables to alarm contacts or DS1
cables at cross connects if required.
Non-oxidizing grease
Prepare power and ground connections.
Crimp tool with #2, #6, and #8
dies for a ground lug, #6 for
ground wire and Office Power
Secure the cable lugs to the power and chassis
ground cables.
#12-24 x ¾-inch bolts (4 for
Power and Fuse Panel and 12 for
Chassis)
Use to attach the chassis, power and alarm panel,
and air baffle to the rack.
Wrenches or nut drivers
Attach power panel mounting bolts.
Round waxed lacing cord #12 or
nylon cable ties with a flush cutter
Use for cable management.
Heavy-duty cart or other vehicle
with a level platform at least 2
feet by 3 feet (0.61 by 0.914
meters) and capable of supporting
150 pounds (68 kg).
Move the chassis and other components from the
receiving area to the installation location.
Test equipment:
DS-1 test set
SS7 protocol tester
ISDN protocol tester
Call
generator
Test installed equipment and modules.
