Error handling and diagnostics
EK3100

Version: 1.5

Diagnostics via PROFIBUS
The diagnostics via PROFIBUS is configured as follows. The module at slot 1 is always the CtrlStatus
DWORD module. The first EtherCAT Terminal from your hardware configuration is therefore always at slot 2.
For the diagnostics the currently projected position is important, not the actual position in the hardware
configuration.
Example:
An EtherCAT Terminal, which in the actual hardware configuration is connected in fourth position after the
EK3100, has a problem. In this case the diagnostics would indicate the error at slot 5, since slot 1 is always
assigned the CtrlStatus DWORD module.

Please note this behavior for diagnostics via PROFIBUS.
6.3.1
Diagnostics for virtual slaves
The diagnostics always indicates the slot from the configuration; the “actual” EtherCAT Terminal is indicated
via the text.
Example:
You have configured the EK3100 Bus Coupler with an additional virtual slave, and the EtherCAT Terminal at
the 9th position has a problem. This EtherCAT Terminal is configured at the 5th slot on the virtual slave. Use
the text from the diagnostics, rather than the slot number, to determine the error location.
