ImPORTaNT SaFeTy INSTRUCTIONS:
• This thermometer is suitable exclusively for measurement of body temperature.
• Do not allow children to take their temperatures unattended.
• Carefully read the instructions to ensure accurate temperature readings. Temperature readings are affected by many
factors, including exercise, drinking hot or cold beverages prior to taking a reading and technique.
• High, prolonged fever requires medical attention, especially in young children. Please contact your physician should
this occur.
• Use only the commercial disinfectants listed in the section “Cleaning and Disinfecting” to clean the thermometer. Do
not wash in hot water.
• Store the thermometer in the container (included) to prevent breakage.
• In case of glass breakage, please be careful when cleaning and disposing of glass fragments. Use of a broom,
vacuum and/or wet paper towel while wearing standard household gloves will help in the safe removal of broken
pieces.

BeFORe USING The TheRmOmeTeR
Occasionally, handling in shipment or improper storage may cause the liquid to separate slightly. This is not a defect.
The liquid can be reunited easily before use. Shake the thermometer, bulb end down. Pause between shakes to permit
liquid to run down the tube. Continue until liquid is completely joined.
USING The TheRmOmeTeR
1. Clean the thermometer with soap and cool water prior to use.
2. Firmly shake the thermometer, bulb end down (ensuring a solid hold on the thermometer), so the column is below
35°C/95°F.
3. You can now place it at the desired site of measurement.
Note:
once a measurement has been taken, tilt the
thermometer forward and back to see the reading.

ORal USe (aDUlTS aND ChIlDReN OVeR 4 yeaRS):
1. Do not drink hot or cold fluids, exercise, smoke or perform other activities prior to a measurement. Doing so will
result in increased or decreased temperature readings when compared to your normal and average temperature.
The mouth should remain closed for up to 5 minutes before attempting to measure the temperature.
2. Place the probe tip well under the tongue and keep the mouth closed for approximately 3 minutes. For children,
instruct them not to bite down on the probe.
3. The mouth should remain closed during the reading. Opening the mouth during the measurement or improper
placement of the probe tip could result in a longer time for a reading.
UNDeRaRm (aXIllaRy USe):
1. Wipe underarm with a dry towel.
2. Place probe tip in armpit and bring arm down against the body. The probe should be pointing upwards in the same
direction as your body if possible. Leave for minimum 5 minutes before checking reading.
ReCTal USe:
1. This measurement is commonly used for babies, young children or when it is difficult to take an oral or underarm
reading.
2. Lubricate the thermometer with a water-soluble personal lubricant or petroleum jelly.
3. Gently insert the probe tip no more then 1/2 inch or 1.3cm into the rectum. Leave for minimum 5 minutes before
checking reading.

4. Remove the thermometer and wash as recommended.
Note:
normal rectal body temperature is 37.5°C (99.6°F), this is typically 0.5°C (1.0°F) higher than normal oral
temperatures.
STORaGe
The mercury free thermometer should be stored in a 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F) environment. If the thermometer is
stored in an area less then 20°C (68°F), place the thermometer in a warmer area for at least 1-2 hours before use. Do
not place the thermometer in area above 42°C (107.6°F). Do not store it near radiators or direct sunlight. This affects the
accuracy and may cause the bulb to break or weaken and later break.
CleaNING aND DISINFeCTION
Before and after each use, clean and disinfect in cold soapy water or by using cotton moistened with 70% isopropyl
alcohol. Never immerse in warm or hot water or in harsh cleaning solutions.
CaUTION:
If the glass thermometer breaks, the fluid can produce burns in the eyes, oral cavity and GI track, if ingested.
If fluid comes in contact with the eyes, rinse with warm water, with eye lid open.
If fluid comes in contact with the skin, wash the skin area with warm water and soap.
If fluid is swallowed, consult a physician.
Composition: Eutectic mixture of Gallium 60%, Indium 23%, Tin 17%.
