After the first tray is inserted properly, several slide trays can be stacked and added to the
hopper as a unit (a total of 36 trays).
4
Close the hopper door securely to begin processing. Note that the instrument will not start
processing until the hopper door is properly closed.
To load trays while the instrument is processing:
Additional trays may be added once processing has begun. Lifting the input hopper door
automatically pauses the instrument so that it is safe to add trays. When the door is closed, the
system automatically resumes processing.
15.4.2
Unloading Trays
When a tray is completely processed, the system ejects it into the output hopper. Once a tray is
in the output hopper, it can be removed. The output hopper does not have to be filled before
removing trays.
To unload trays from an operating instrument:
1
Lift the output hopper door on the left side of the instrument. Lifting the output hopper door
automatically pauses the instrument so that it is safe to remove trays.
2
Slide the trays upward and out.
3
Close the hopper door. The system automatically resumes processing.
Note that the system will not resume processing until the output hopper door is securely
closed.
15.4.3
Ejecting Trays
Occasionally, a tray may need to be ejected while it is being processed.
To eject a tray currently being processed:
1
From the Main Window, select the desired instrument, and click on the
Utilities
button.
2
Select the
Eject Tray
button.
The system displays a message asking to continue with this request. Click on the
OK
button.
After several seconds the tray is ejected into the output hopper. Slides in a tray that complete
processing prior to the manual eject are reported as qualified if SI passes after the tray is
ejected.
To eject a tray during a power outage:
If your facility experiences a prolonged power outage, it may be desired to eject the tray that was
being processed at the time of the outage. For instructions on how to do this, call
BD Technical Service and Support.
CAUTION
When adding trays to the input hopper during processing, be
careful not to touch the extended edge of a tray currently being
processed. Touching the tray could invalidate the positioning
determinations made for the cellular features on the slide in
process.
