Adjusting the Sensors

Sensors
PH1, PH2, PH3, PH5, PH6, PH7, PH9
, and
ORG2
have
red LEDs
that turn ON when an
object is detected by them. Sensors
ORG1, ORG3
and
ORG4
do not have these status LEDs.
See paragraph 8-6 to adjust PH4.

To adjust all sensors (except PH4), do the following:
1.
Turn off Clinitek Atlas and Rack Sample Handler units. Remove any covers which seal off the sensor to
be replaced or adjusted (see paragraph 9-3, page 9.3). If necessary, disconnect the Rack Sample
Handler from the Clinitek Atlas instrument.
2.
Place Rack Sample Handler in the Service Test Mode by holding down on the green and red key switches
and turning the unit ON. Go to Sensor Monitor, press
ENT
and display should be in this format:

The sequence for the sensors on this display is:
1 = PH4
(Tube Sensor)
2 = PH9
(Photo STAT Sensor)
3 = PH1
(Return/In Feed Sensor)
4 = PH2
(In/Cross Feed Sensor)
5 = PH3
(Rack Sensor)
6 = PH5
(Cross/Out Feed Sensor)
7 = PH6
(Out/Return Feed Sensor)
8 = PH7
(End of Rack Marker Sensor)
9 = ORG1
(In Feed Assembly Origin Sensor)
10 = ORG2
(Cross Feed Home Sensor)
11 = ORG3
(Out Feed Assembly Origin Sensor)
12 = ORG4
(Return Feed Origin Sensor)
Displayed Sensor Status is either 0 or 1.

To adjust PH2, PH3, PH5 and PH6, loosen the screw(s) on the sensor itself to adjust the sensor until its
LED comes ON and its displayed sensor status is 1 when a rack is in front of the sensor.
PH1, PH7 and ORG2 are all attached to metal brackets which are adjusted instead of adjusting the sensor
itself (Figure 8-4).
To adjust PH1, loosen its bracket screws and adjust it until its LED comes ON and its displayed sensor
status is 1 when a rack is present in front of the sensor.
To adjust PH7, loosen its bracket screws. Adjust it until its LED is ON and its display sensor status is 1
when a Stop Marker in a rack is directly in front of the sensor.
To adjust ORG2, loosen its bracket screws and adjust it until its red LED turns ON and the displayed
sensor status is 1 when the Timing Belt

Cross Feed Arm (item 32 on page 10.28) bisects sensor ORG2.
Adjust PH9 by removing the Display Assembly (2 screws) and loosening the two screws on the sensor.
Adjust sensor to turn ON its LED and give a displayed status of 1 when a tube in the STAT holder is
pushed all the way into the instrument.
To adjust ORG1, ORG3 or ORG4, loosen two screws holding the metal Sensor Fin (item 37 page 10.8 or
